HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 8 (acn) Mukhisa Kituyi, Secretary General of the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development (UNCTAD) will carry out a working visit to Cuba, from June 18 to June 21, 2016.
Anayansi Rodriguez, Ambassador of Cuba to the Office of the United Nations in Geneva and other international organizations in Switzerland, met with the top international official, with the purpose of holding exchanges on this visit, its work program and results expected, reported the www.cubaminrex.cu Web site.
The meeting took place in the atmosphere of cooperation and fraternity characterizing relations between Cuba and this international institution, which addresses trade issues from a development perspective.
The meeting served as a framework to address issues of interest related to the actions of cooperation between Cuba and this international organization.
Likewise, the Cuban representative took the opportunity to thank UNCTAD for the traditional support to the struggle of the Cuban people for the lifting the economic, commercial and financial blockade of the United States. She also expressed the island's gratitude for the substantive contribution of the Organization to the Report of the UN Secretary General by virtue of the resolution of the United Nations General Assembly that every year requests the lifting of the blockade.
