HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 5 (acn) Nearly a dozen Arizona college students recalled what they described as a successful seven-day trip to Cuba in late March as they met with the people and learned from Cuban architecture and culture.

The students, from the Northern Arizona University Interior Design School wrote on facebook that "This year's spring break study abroad to Cuba was a success. It was such an amazing and rewarding experience to see all the exquisite historic architecture and to meet and interact with the gracious Cuban people."
Assistant professor Melissa Santana told the Arizona Daily Sun that she had visited Cuba on other occasions for architectural research. The trip took place March 12-18, days before President Barack Obama paid his visit to Cuba.
The students´ stay included sightseeing, meeting with local architecture students and professors, and a chance to dance to Cuban salsa, toured neighborhoods with high architectural values, the local churches, a cemetery and the Revolution Square.
This winter the Northern Arizona University will offer study-abroad trips to Cuba for students of photography and another one in spring also this year combining history, society, politics and culture studies.
