HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 5 (acn) The President of Slovakia, Andrej Kiska, received a courtesy visit from Ricardo Cabrisas, Vice-president of the Cuban Council of Ministers, informed on Thursday the Embassy of the Caribbean island to this European country.
According to an official note, the very positive state of bilateral relations and the interest of expanding them, especially in the economic, commercial and financial sectors, with greater Slovak participation in business and investment in Cuba, were confirmed at the meeting.
The meeting also contributed to confirm that new possibilities are opened based on the progress of the negotiation process of the agreement on political dialogue and cooperation between the Caribbean nation and the European Union, and of the significant improvement of relations between Cuba and members of that bloc.
The Vice-president also met with Health Minister Vladimir Čislák, in order to assess the procedures for exporting Cuban medicaments of excellence to Slovakia and address other possibilities of cooperation in this area.
Cabrisas began his visit to the European State on Wednesday, in response to an invitation by Slovak Prime Minister Robert Fico, during the official visit he paid to the island in October, 2015.
According to the Cuban Foreign Ministry, his stay will contribute to boost relations and to foster links in the economic-commercial sphere, starting from the existing potential for this, particularly in the fields of energy and biotechnology.
