International association called to counteract warmongering trends

HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 3 (ACN) The Patrice Lumumba Association for International Solidarity (PLAIS) urged to defend peace on Earth given the growing spiral of warmongering attitudes evidenced by the war in Ukraine, Israel's genocidal attack, and the aggressiveness of the United States toward in Latin America and the Caribbean to the detriment of the future of humankind.

PLAIS’s call remarks that the Israeli army in the Middle East continues the genocide against the Palestinian people with no end in sight, bombs Lebanon as a prelude to an invasion, hits targets in Iran, and provoke a foreseeable response from those whom they attack and invade.

The text adds that military activity increases in Ukraine as NATO, the United States and the European Union get more and more involved in that war, paving the way for the use of weapons against Russia and the resulting reaction of the Russian Federation with unforeseeable consequences.

Likewise, reference is made to the measures of coercion, economic aggression and blockade imposed against Cuba and other countries, as well as to the use of “a cynical and ignominious list of countries supposedly sponsoring terrorism, drawn up unilaterally by the United States, to justify its policy of interference, violations of international legality and aggression against States that do not submit to its interests”, and to the UN’s failure to play a role in the search for a diplomatic negotiated solution to armed conflicts.

PLAIS appeals to all social, labor and political groups and forces to break the media siege that conceals the seriousness of the situation and to pressure their governments to take steps to stop the spiral of aggressiveness and give dialogue right of way to negotiate solutions to these conflicts.
