Havana, Jan 29 (ACN) The Colombian government and the National Liberation Army ELN rebel organization agreed on Monday in Havana to extend the standing bilateral, national and temporary ceasefire up to February 5th.
The decision, taken during the 6th round of peace talks here, will be implemented under the accord number 10th of June 9 last year, according to a joint communique issued on X.
The two delegations decided to keep up the evaluation of the ongoing ceasefire to sign its extension at the end of the current round of talks. Such action is expected to strengthen, develop and include aspects related to the ceasefire contained in the accords reached since June 2023 up to date.
The sixth round of peace talks between the Colombian government and the ELN opened in Havana on January 22nd .
Cuban Foreign Minister Bruno Rodriguez recently ratified his government’s willingness to host the talks and make efforts to guarantee all conditions so that the two side can work and advance the construction of peace for Colombia.
