HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 16 (ACN) During an official visit to Portugal, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel thanked workers and members of Cuba solidarity movements in that country at a massive event held at Lisbon’s Society of Instruction and Charity "Voice of the Worker".
Díaz-Canel sent his very best to those present and the hundreds outside the building who were watching the gala on a screen as they voiced their support for the Revolution and Cuban people, shouting "Cuba yes, blockade no". He also extended his best wishes to the organizers, producers, scriptwriters and artists who passionately shared their revolutionary art.
"We are feeling very intense emotions in this meeting," he remarked. “Being here with you makes us recall the solidarity rally attended by Commander in Chief Fidel Castro Ruz in Oporto on October 18, 1998. (…) Much as the historic leader of the Revolution did back then, the Cuban delegation expresses its intense feeling of admiration, recognition and affection for your support.”
During his stay in Lisbon, Díaz-Canel held a meeting with Portuguese President Marcelo Rebelo de Sousa in which both parties reasserted their will to keep strengthening bilateral relations.
Rebelo de Sousa presented his Cuban counterpart with the Grand Collar of the Order of Prince Henry, the highest distinction bestowed on heads of state.
