Cuba ratifies its willingness to strengthen friendship ties with the Bahamas

HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 10 (ACN) Cuba ratified today the willingness to continue strengthening ties of friendship and cooperation with the Bahamas, on the occasion of the 50th anniversary of that nation's independence.

On Twitter, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs congratulated the people and government of the Commonwealth of the Bahamas on the occasion of its National Day, this July 10.

Ines Maria Chapman, deputy prime minister of Cuba, traveled to the Bahamas to participate in the celebrations held on the occasion of the date, which marks the independence of that island nation from the United Kingdom on July 10, 1973.

In a meeting with Philip Davis, Bahamian Prime Minister, both parties expressed the need to strengthen the unity of the countries, continue working on issues of common interest such as climate change and strengthen current cooperation by expanding it to other areas such as sports.

Cuba and the Bahamas, which in November will celebrate the 49th anniversary of the establishment of bilateral relations, collaborate in areas such as health, transportation, tourism, migration and adaptation to climate change, in addition to defending common positions in several international forums.
