HAVANA, Cuba, Sep 13 (ACN) Juan Antonio Quintanilla, Cuban permanent representative to Geneva, ratified today the support of the Caribbean nation to the government and people of Nicaragua, in the face of the hostile actions against it, at the Interactive Dialogue on the High Commissioner's report on Nicaragua.
According to a statement issued by the foreign ministry, the Cuban official encouraged the Central American country to continue confronting extreme meddling, threats, actions of internal destabilization and unilateral coercive measures.
Quintanilla congratulated the Nicaraguan government for its important advances in the preservation of peace, the rule of law, democracy, sovereignty, national unity and socioeconomic achievements.
He thanked Nicaragua for its solidarity with the Cuban people, which demonstrates the importance of complementarity and South-South cooperation as an essential means for the promotion and defense of human rights.
We reject politically motivated practices in the framework of the Human Rights Council, which do not have the approval of the countries concerned, the representative of the island added during his speech.
