US Pastors for Peace Caravan Arrives in Cuba

Havana, July 18 (ACN) Activists with the US Pastors for Peace Caravan will meet a tight agenda in Cuba after their arrival here on Monday, including a ceremony to mark the 30th year that such humanitarian caravans have come to Cuba.

According to PL news agency, the 91-member group toured over 20 US cities educating people against the US economic, commercial and financial blockade against Cuba; they also collected donations and funds to purchase medications for the Cuban people.

The activists of Pastors for Peace, which is under the Interreligious Foundation for Community Organization (IFCO), will meet and exchange with the people of the provinces of Matanzas and Cienfuegos. This latter territory assigned as venue for national ceremony to mark Rebellion Day, July 26.

Pastors for Peace coordinator Samira Addrey told PL news agency that they expect to reach out to new generations of friends of Cuba.

Gail Walker, daughter of the Pastor for Peace founder the Reverend Lucius Walker, said that this supportive movement is an expression of the friendship between the peoples of the United States and Cuba and of the permanent denunciation of the criminal US blockade against the island.
