Cuba presents social security results at international meeting

HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 7 (ACN) Cuba's results in labor and social security were presented today by the minister of the sector on the island, Marta Elena Feito Cabrera, during the plenary session of the International Labor Conference, which is in session in Geneva, Switzerland.

On Twitter, Cuban ambassador and permanent representative to international organizations based in Geneva, Juan Antonio Quintanilla, reported that the Minister of Labor and Social Security emphasized the measures to ensure protection in the context of the COVID-19.

The minister also referred to the island's progress in the 2030 Agenda, through government macro-programs such as Human Development, Equity and Social Justice.

She also stressed that despite the tightening of the economic, commercial and financial blockade imposed by the United States, Cuba confronted the pandemic with its own vaccines, the result of the development of Cuban biotechnology.

Representatives from more than 50 countries are participating in the plenary session of the Conference on the impact of COVID-19 on the world of work and the measures adopted to deal with it.

The 110th Session of the International Labor Conference, held May 27 to June 11, brings together nearly 6,000 delegates representing governments, workers and employers from the 187 Member States of the Organization.
