HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 9 (acn) Havana is among the 14 cities on the New Seven Wonder Cities contest, which will take the choice of millions of citizens of the world who will select the cities they consider as the new wonders on the planet.
Havana is now on the last stage of the competition, which was organized by Switzerland's New7Wonders Foundation. The entity implemented a voting system on the internet to select the new wonder cities of the world.
Other cities competing with Havana are Barcelona, Beirut, Chicago, Doha, Durban, Kuala Lumpur, La Paz, London, Mexico City, Perth, Quito, Reykjavik and Vigan, according to an announcement made in Munich by Bernard Weber, founder and president of the institution.
The vote opened in 2012 with over 1200 nominations, the list was reduced to 28 finalists in 2013 and finally is on its large stage till the winners are announced on December 7, 2014.
