Havana, Dec 7 (ACN) The president of the Ukraine-Cuba Friendship Parliamentary Group, Oleg Voronko, thanked Cuba for its support and assistance of the Ukrainian children affected by the Chernobyl nuclear accident.
Voronko, who is on a working visit here, said that as president of the parliamentary Ukraine-Cuba group and on behalf of the 27 Chernobyl assisted in Cuba he wanted to express his deepest thankfulness to Fidel Castro, medical program leader Doctor Julio, and to all doctors and nurses, teachers and the whole team, who assisted the Ukrainian kids during years.
During a meeting at the Cuban Friendship Institute, the Ukrainian parliamentarian said he will contribute to keep Ukraine-Cuba relations at the level of historic bonds between the two peoples.
The Cuban Program for the Medical Assistance of the Chernobyl Children affected by the Nuclear Catastrophe was implemented in March 1990 on the initiative of Cuban Revolution leader Fidel Castro.
