European Lawmaker Learns about Cuban Health System

Havana, Nov 9 (ACN) European parliamentarian Manuel Pineda learned about the Cuban health system during a current visit to the island.

Pineda, who leads the Friendship-with-Cuba group at the European Parliament and is member of Spain’s Communist Party, toured a healthcare center in Havana, where he was briefed about the performance of primary health care, according to the Cuban Health Ministry’s Twitter account.

The lawmaker also exchanged views with local health authorities about the Cuban efforts against COVID-19, the vaccination campaign, international cooperation and the impact of the US economic, commercial and financial blockade on the island’s health sector.

Pineda also met with Cuban scientists at the Havana-based Genetic Engineer and Biotechnology Center where he underscored the significant achievement of Cuban sciences under he difficult conditions imposed by the US hostile policy against the island nation.
