Cuba and Russia to expand academic and scientific cooperation

HAVANA, Cuba, Nov 9 (ACN) Cuban minister of higher education, Jose Ramon Saborido Loidi, held a meeting with his Russian counterpart, Valeri Falkov, as part of his visit to that Eurasian country.

Maria Victoria Villavicencio, director of international relations of the Cuban organization, said on Twitter that the exchange was an excellent opportunity to expand academic and scientific cooperation between the two nations.

In another tweet, Villavicencio informed that Saborido Loidi met with a representative of the federal agency Rossotrudnichestvo (in charge of international humanitarian cooperation, support to nationals abroad and projects with the Commonwealth of Independent States).

The official described the meeting as fraternal, during which the Cuban minister of higher education expressed his gratitude for the training of Cuban students in Russia.

According to the Cuban ministry of higher education, the work agenda of its head in that country includes meetings with other officials and personalities, with the aim of strengthening bilateral ties and cooperation.

On October, Russia's D.I. Mendeleev University of Chemical Technology and Cuba's Biotechnological and Pharmaceutical Industries Group signed a MoU to strengthen bilateral cooperation and expand scientific, educational and business collaboration.
