New weapons of extermination were tested there, using for the first time depleted uranium.

To mention just one more example, in Iraq the invasion attempted to justify itself with the arguments that human rights were being violated there and that chemical weapons existed, the latter being refuted some time later by experts from the International Atomic Energy Organization.

More than 150,000 soldiers participated in the US and its allies' operation, taking the lives of almost 3 million Iraqis and reducing the country's main cities to rubble.

As another consequence of this invasion, the terrorist Islamic State subsequently occupied a third of the country's territory in 2014.

It is evident that conditioning the international community to support this type of events, through the creation of a pretext, is an essential element to carry them out, and in this aspect the media have played a decisive role.

Therefore, Cuba continues to reiterate its denunciation of the media manipulation of its reality, which aims to show the situation of ungovernability "required" for these actions.

On Thursday, the head of Cuban diplomacy said that the real signs of interest in the welfare of the Cuban people on the part of the U.S. government would be to put an end to its blockade, to the illegal meddling in internal affairs and to the disinformation campaigns to justify its aggressive measures.

A change in its actions in this regard would be in line with the demands of most of the countries of the world, which on June 23 supported the resolution presented by Cuba at the United Nations General Assembly on the need to put an end to the economic, commercial and financial blockade.
