HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 21 (ACN) The “Antonio Maceo y Grajales” Association of Cuban Residents in Nicaragua (ACRN) decried the aggressive stance of the U.S. government towards the island in an open letter to President Joe Biden.
According to Prensa Latina (PL) news agency, the signatories expressed their rejection of the recent destabilizing events that took place in several Cuban cities and the acts of violence organized through the social networks, just like it happened in Nicaragua recently.
The letter assures that Cuba is not alone: “To our people, family comes first, and you should know, Mr. Biden, that unity is our main strength,” it stresses.
The text also condemns in strong terms the economic, financial and commercial blockade that U.S. administrations have imposed on the Cuban people for almost six decades and highlights the great hardship that this policy brings to them, especially after its intensification in times of pandemic.
Likewise, the ACRN reminded Biden of his times as vice president during the administration of Barack Obama (2009-2017), who failed to lift the blockade or close the Guantanamo Bay prison for lack of parliamentary support and political will but traveled to Cuba as part of an intended rapprochement eventually thwarted by his successor, Donald Trump, PL pointed out.
