Cubans shine in the qualification of the Hawks to the second stage of the NPB Climax Series

HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 7 (acn) Cubans Alfredo Despaigne, Yurisbel Gracial and Livan Moinelo qualified to the final round of the Pacific League playoff, after the 2-1 home win of the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks over the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles, in the Japanese Professional Baseball League (NPB).

DH Despaigne batted 1 for 2, scored one run and also walked once, to close the first stage of the Climax Series with an impressive batting average (BA) of .500, including a homer and three RBIs.
Meanwhile, OF Gracial hit 1 for 3, with a single and two strikeouts, to leave his final BA at .300, but without homeruns or RBIs.
Finally, lefty setupper Moinelo pitched a scoreless relief for the third consecutive day, to say goodbye to this series against the Eagles without allowing hits, with four strikeouts and immaculate ERA of 0.00.
The Hawks, which had lost its first game in the Climax Series, won the other two matches consecutively and will then face, on Wednesday, the Saitama Seibu Lions in the final round of the Pacific League playoff, which will determine the representative of the circuit in the 2019 Japan Series.
The rivals in the Central League will be the Yomiuri Giants and the Hanshin Tigers.
