HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 29 (acn) Cuba appears today in the sixth place of the standings of the Lima 2019 Parapan American Games, with 12 gold, three silver and nine bronze medals, thanks to the booty achieved on Wednesday at the closing day of the athletics tournament.
The Cuban athletes earned three titles, one silver and two bronze medals, with highlight to Omara Durand, Luis Felipe Gutierrez and Gerdan Fonseca, winners of crowns in the women´s 400 meters T12, the men´s long jump T13 and the men´s javelin F64, in that order.
In addition, Noraivis de las Heras was runner-up at the women´s discus throw F64, while Leinier Savon (men´s 100m T12) and Raicel Gonzalez (men´s 100m T46-47) were bronze medalists.
After that performance, the Caribbean island climbed two steps in the standings since they ranked eighth (9-2-7) on Tuesday.
Brazil (75-62-56) remains leader followed by United States (49-44-43), Mexico (37-37-34), Colombia (24-23-34), Argentina (17-28-37) and Cuba (12-3-9).
Then appear Canada (10-14-10), Chile (10-5-7), Ecuador (5-6-4), Venezuela (2-1-0), Trinidad and Tobago (2-1 -1), Bermuda (2-1-0), Peru (1-3-3) and Uruguay (1-0-0), as the other eight nations with crowns.
Puerto Rico (0-3-0), Dominican Republic, Jamaica (0-2-1) and Costa Rica (0-2-0) are the other countries which have at least won medals.
