Cuba loses to Iran in Boys´ U19 World Volleyball ChampionshipHAVANA, Cuba, Aug 28 (acn) Cuba lost in straight sets to Iran in the round of 16 of the 2019 FIVB Boys´ U19 World Volleyball Championship, based in Tunisia.

According to the tournament website, Cubans fell 0-3 (19-25, 24-26 and 22-25), in a match in which they only earned 16 points on their opponent errors, but they committed 23.
The other statistics of the game show quite similar numbers, since the Caribbean players were better in blocks (9 against 8), while Iranians led in attack (38-37) and serve (7-3).
Iran´s opposite spiker (OP) Bardia Saadat was the top scorer of the match with 23 points, while OP Alexel Ramirez (18) and middle blocker Luis Vidal (12) shone for Cuba.
In the other results of this round, Italy defeated 3-0 Chinese Taipei, Japan beat 3-1 South Korea, Bulgaria won 3-2 over Brazil, while Belarus, Egypt, Argentina and Russia surpassed all 3-0 the Czech Republic, Nigeria, USA and Germany, in that order.
Thus, Cuba will face Germany today in the 9th-16th quarterfinals, stage that also includes the matches Chinese Taipei – South Korea, Czech Republic - Nigeria and US - Brazil.
