Cuban pole vaulter Silva ranked third in Diamond League eleventh legHAVANA, Cuba, Aug 19 (acn) Cuban Yarisley Silva, London 2012 Olympic runner-up, won the bronze medal in the women´s pole vault event of the eleventh stop of the 2019 IAAF Diamond League, which took place in Birmingham, UK.
Silva, Beijing 2015 world monarch, reached the height of 4.65 meters and finished third tied with American Jennifer Suhr, and they both earned six points in the classification of that event.

With that same height, but with fewer failed attempts, Canadian Alysha Newman ranked second; while the Olympic and World champion Greek Katerina Stefanidi (4.75 m) climbed to the top of the podium.
Thus, the Caribbean athlete now accumulates 19 points and walks with a steady pace towards the final of that modality, which will include the 12 best athletes of the year.
The outstanding Cuban vaulter recently won the 2019 Pan Am Games where she scored her season best (4.75m).
