Strong Cuban team to World Judo Championship of TokyoHAVANA, Cuba, Aug 15 (acn) The five champions in the recent 18th Pan American Games in Lima, Peru, are among the nine Cuban athletes to compete in the World Judo Championship of Tokyo, Japan, scheduled from next August 25 to September 1.

There will be four men and five women the ones who will travel to the Asian continent, Rafael Manso, Cuban national commissioner of that sport, told ACN
The squad is headed by the runners-up in the previous version of Baku 2018, Idalys Ortiz in the +78 kg division and Ivan Silva (90 kg).
Ortiz and Silva, who earned 700 points each in Lima by becoming monarchs of that contest, remain first and third, respectively, in the world ranking of their divisions and in the Japanese capital they will try to add the 2.000 units this tournament grants to the winners of each division.
The other Cuban Pan Am champions to attend this coming event are the woman Maylin Del Toro (63) and men Magdiel Estrada (73) and Andy Granda (+100).
The list also includes Osniel Solis (66) and women Onix Cortes (70) and Kaliema Antomarchi (78).
The 2019 World Judo Championship will be attended by 880 athletes from 150 countries and it is expected the attendance of the global leaders of each division.
