Cubans make history in Lima 2019 modern pentathlon tournament

HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 30 (acn) Leydi Laura Moya and Eliani Camara achieved the most outstanding performance of the Cuban pentathlon when becoming runners-up in the women´s relay event of the 18th Pan American Games of Lima 2019, in Peru.
The best results of the Cuban athletes were in the swimming, event they won with time of 2: 08.28 minutes, and they ranked second in the equestrian contest earning 260 units.
The Cuban duo totaled 1.228 points, only behind Americans Jessica Davis and Samantha Achterberg, champions with 1.350 units, and ahead of Brazilians Isabela Antonietto and Priscilla Santana (1.294).
Previously, in the women´s individual event, Leydi Laura won the bronze medal, Camara ranked fifth and Dalia Perez, third Cuban attending this competition, finished 12th.
Meanwhile, in the men´s individual event, Lester Ders ranked fourth and thus got the ticket to the Tokyo 2020 Olympics, just like Leydi Laura.
