HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 24 (acn) Cuba will try to finish today as leader of Pool H, on the closing day of the second round of the 2019 FIVB Volleyball Men´s U21 World Championship based in Bahrain, when facing Poland.
After ranking third in Pool B of the first round with two wins and one loss, Cubans now appear second (2-0) with the same balance of the Poles, who are the leaders by better ratio, according to the official website of the contest.
The best two teams of Group H earn the right to fight for the positions from 9 to 12 against their counterparts of Group G, while those ranking third and fourth will dispute the 13-16 places.
On Tuesday, Cuba beat Morocco 3-0 (25-15, 25-22 and 25-13), while Poland defeated Tunisia 3-0 (25-21, 25-16, and 25-20).
Pool G already ended up and was headed by the Czech Republic, followed by Canadians, who were tied with Egyptians with 2-1 balance, but with better ratio (1.028 by 1.013).
Today´s program also includes the matches South Korea-Brazil and Russia-China, in Pool E, and Italy-Argentina and Bahrain-Iran (F), groups which enroll the teams fighting for the best eight seats.
Brazil (3-0) already topped Pool E followed by Russia (2-1) and they both advanced to the Final Four , where they await for the best two sides from Pool F, which is headed by Italy (2-0), Iran (1-1), Argentina (1-1) and Bahrain (0-2).
In the previous edition of 2017 in the Czech Republic, the medalists were Poland (gold), Cuba (silver) and Russia (bronze).
