HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 16 (acn) Cuban Yurisbel Gracial blasted his twentieth homer of the season, but could not prevent the 2-3 loss of his team, the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks, to the Hokkaido Nippon Ham Fighters in the Pacific Zone of the Japanese Professional Baseball League (NPB).
After this solo homer, the outstanding Cuban outfielder, who batted 1 for 3 with a walk, maintained his batting average (BA) in .333 and increased his RBI total to 48.
Gracial has batted 76 hits in 237 at-bats, with 11 doubles and 16 walks, but also amounts 53 strikeouts.
Undoubtedly, he could bat third in the line-up of the Cuban team that will attend the baseball tournament of the upcoming 2019 Pan American Games in Lima, Peru.
His compatriot and teammate in the Hawks, Alfredo Despaigne, had an unfortunate day when batting 0 for 3 with three strikeouts, thus reducing his BA to .263.
Despaigne now amounts 79 hits in 289 at-bats and, like Gracial, totals 20 home runs, in addition to seven doubles and 50 RBIs.
