Cuban triple jumper Povea finished second in Monaco

HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 12 (acn) Cuban triple jumper Liadagmis Povea finished second in the ninth stop of the 2019 IAAF Diamond League, based at Louis II stadium, in Monaco, where she reached the distance of 14.71 meters.

With that good result, Povea was just six centimeters shy from her personal best, result achieved in Lausanne, Switzerland, last July 5, in the eighth leg of this same competition where she ranked third.
This time, the Cuban athlete was overtaken by Venezuelan Yulimar Rojas, who again showed her great quality by scoring 14.98 m, while the bronze medal went to Jamaican Shanieka Ricketts (14.67m), according to the IAAF official website.
As a striking fact, Colombian Caterine Ibarguen, Rio 2016 Olympic champion, ranked sixth (14.33 m), quite far from her record in Lausanne, where she earned the victory with 14.89m.
However, Ibarguen continues leading the race for the diamond with 19 points, followed by Ricketts (17), Rojas (15), Jamaica´s Kimberly Williams (14) and Povea (13).
