HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 20 (acn) Cuba will face Chile today, in one of the semifinals of the 14th Men´s Pan American Volleyball Cup, which concludes tomorrow in the Mexican city of Colima.
The squad coached by former setter Nicolas Vives advanced directly to semis as unbeaten leader of group A, while Chile, also undefeated leader but in Pool C, won yesterday in the quarterfinals 3-0 (25-19, 25-22 and 25-21) over Puerto Rico, second seat of Group B.
In the other semifinal match, Mexico, best team of Pool B, will clash with Argentina, second place of Pool A, which surpassed 3-0 (25-23, 25-22 and 25-22) United States in quarters.
The medalists of the previous edition in 2018 were Argentina (gold), Brazil (silver) and Cuba (bronze).
United States, with five gold and two silver, lead the historic medal table of the Men´s Pan American Volleyball Cups, followed by Brazil (3-1-0), Argentina (2-4-2), Cuba (2-0-3), Mexico (1-2-0), Canada (0-2-3), Puerto Rico (0-2-1), Dominican Republic (0-0-3) and Venezuela (0-0-1).
