Cuba finished unbeaten the qualifying stage of Men´s Handball Emerging Nations Championship

HAVANA, Cuba, Jun 13 (acn) Cuba beat India today 40-29 and advanced unbeaten to the semifinals of the 2019 IHF Men´s Handball Emerging Nations Championship taking place in Tbilisi, Georgia.

In match for Group A, Cuban coach Luis Enrique Delisle mainly used his bench players as his team was already qualified to semifinals and there was offensive highlight to Freddy Lafortan, who scored nine goals and was seconded by Adonys Garcia (5), while Ronaldo Almeida, Alberto Fausto and Hanser Rodriguez netted four each.
Devinder Singh (6) and Kailash Patel (5) were India´s most outstanding players.
The Caribbean island now awaits for its rival in semifinals, who will be today's loser in the Pool B match between Georgia and Bulgaria, unreachable leaders of this group after achieving 4 wins and no loss both.
The winner of that game will clash in the other semifinal with UK, who finished second (4-1) in Group A after defeating today Colombia 27-23.
So far, 13 out of the 14 Cuban players have scored in the tournament, as even goalkeeper Magnol Suarez, who by the way has been among the best in the contest, has scored twice; but the scoring leaders are Omar Toledano (30), Adonis J. Garcia (22) and Reinier Taboada (21).
