Cubans will try to reach finals in World Cup Rifle/PistolHAVANA, Cuba, May 29 (acn) Cubans Jorge Alvarez and Leuris Pupo will try to reach the finals of the Men´s 25-meter Rapid Fire Pistol event in the 2019 ISSF World Cup Rifle/Pistol, running in Munich, Germany, until May 31st.

Alvarez, bronze medalist of that event in the previous edition of that contest, and Pupo, London 2012Olympic champion, ranked 21st and 35 th yesterday, respectively, in the first round of the qualifying stage.
For that reason, they will have to overcome positions today to earn a ticket to the medals discussion, which will only include the best six athletes of the two qualifying stages.
It will be a tough task as the event is attended by the best 10 athletes in the world ranking, led by Chinese Lin Junmin, defending monarch of the tournament.
Last year Alvarez finished third in Munich by totaling 25 points in the grand final, where he was surpassed by Lin (32) and German Oliver Geis (30), respectively.
The Caribbean nation will also be represented today by Eglys de la Cruz, Beijing 2008 Olympic bronze medalist, who will also be in search of a berth to the finals in the women´s 50m rifle three positions event.
Yesterday, she finished 19th with 1.170 points and still has options to reach the finals.
So far, the medal table of the World Cup is headed by India with three titles, followed by China (1-1-4) and the Czech Republic (1-0-0).
