HAVANA, Cuba, May 7 (acn) Cuba will face United States today, in the closing day of the group stage of the 2019 Men's U21 Pan American Volleyball Cup, based in Lima, Peru.
The Cubans remain undefeated in Pool A after beating 3-0 (25-19, 25-18 and 25-23) the Dominican Republic and also 3-0 (25-19, 25-13 and 25-15) Puerto Rico, in that order.
In other results, United States won 3-0 (25-17, 25-21 and 25-23) over the DR; while in Pool B, Canada overcame 3-0 (25-16, 25-15 and 25-14) Colombia and Chile beat 3-0 (25-18, 28-26 and 25-17) Peru.
The leaders of each group advance directly to semifinals.
Today´s other matches are Puerto Rico-DR, Chile-Colombia and Peru-Canada.
Cuba appears first in Pool A with two wins and no loss, followed by Puerto Rico and USA (1-1), and the DR (0-2), respectively.
Pool B is topped by Canada (2-0), ahead of Colombia and Chile (1-1), and Peru (0-2), in that order.
This tournament grants only one ticket to the U21 FIVB World Championship scheduled to be held from July 18 to 27 next, in Manama, Bahrain; although Cuba and Canada already qualified to that major feast.
