Cuba beat the Dominican Republic in Men´s U21 Pan Am Volleyball Cup

Cuba beat the Dominican Republic in Men´s U21 Pan Am Volleyball CupHAVANA, Cuba, May 6 (acn) Cuba defeated the Dominican Republic on the first day of the 2019 NORCECA Men´s U21 Pan American Volleyball Cup, based in Lima, Peru, where today they will face Puerto Rico and tomorrow the United States.

According to the website of the contest, Cubans beat the Dominicans 3-0 (25-19, 25-18 and 25-23), with a highlight to Julio Cesar Cardenas, who was the top scorer of the match with 18 points.
Cardenas was supported by José Carlos Romero (9), while Dominican Bayron Valdez (15) stood out for the losing side.
In the other group A match, Puerto Rico won 3-1 (27-25, 27-25, 21-25 and 25-20) over United States, while in Pool B, Canada overcame 3-1 (25-17, 25-12, 22-25 and 25-15) Chile and Colombia surpassed 3-0 (25-23, 25-21 and 25-17) Peru.
Today's program also includes the matches between Dominicans and Americans, in group A, and Colombia vs. Canada and Peru - Chile (B).
This tournament grants only one ticket to the U21 FIVB World Championship scheduled to be held from July 18 to 27 next, in Manama, Bahrain; although cuba and Canada already qualified to that major feast.
