Havana, Cuba, Apr 22 (acn) The batting of Cuban Alfredo Despaigne contributed today to the 3-1 away win of the Fukuoka SoftBank Hawks over the Orix Buffaloes, in the Pacific zone of the Nippon Professional Baseball League (NPB).
The Cuban slugger batted 2 for 4 to add his fourth straight game with at least one hit and batted in one run, his seventh of the season.
In 22 games, Despaigne has a low batting average of .210, product of 17 hits in 81 at-bats, including two homers and one double, seven runs scored, 12 walks and 16 strikeouts, with slugging of .296 and OPS of .615.
The Hawks have now balance of 12 wins, two draws and six losses, appearing second in the Pacific League, which is led by the Tohoku Rakuten Golden Eagles (12-1-6).
Last season, Despaigne blasted 29 homers and drove in 74 runs, although his batting average (238) was poor, as he barely batted 97 hits in 407 ABs.
