HAVANA, Cuba, Apr 3 (acn) Cuban triple jumper Jordan Diaz received yesterday in this city the prize as best junior athlete of last year of the North American, Central American and Caribbean Athletics Association (NACAC).

Puerto Rican Victor Lopez, head of NACAC and who delivered Diaz the award, said that the proposal emerges from the specialized journalists and that the NACAC Superior Council validates the final pronouncement.

Diaz, who had won the scepter in the 2017 U18 World Championships of Nairobi, Kenya, completed his 2018 season with the silver medal in the Central American and Caribbean Games of Barranquilla, and more than 10 jumps over 17 meters.

In the ceremony, Lopez praised the advances in the restoration of Havana’s Panamericano stadium

Along with his wife Evelyn Claudio-Lopez, IAAF woman of the year, the NACAC leader participated in the Varadero Half Marathon, held last Sunday at the famous tourist resort.
