Cuba to attend the 2019 Freestyle Wrestling World Cup by teamsHAVANA, Cuba, Mar 1 (acn) The Cuban men´s side will participate in the 2019 Freestyle Wrestling World Cup by teams, based in the Russian region of Yakutsk from next March 16-17.

The Caribbean island was included in Group A along with the powerful local squad, winner of the 2018 global championships; Japan and Turkey.
Meanwhile, Pool B is headed by United States, last year World Cup monarch and runner-up in the universal contest; which will be accompanied by Georgia, Iran and Mongolia.
Julio Mendieta, head coach of the Cuban team, told ACN that they will go with 10 athletes, including veteran Geandry Garzon (74 kilograms), owner of one silver and three bronze medals in World Championships.
Cuba earned the right to attend the tough tournament by ranking fourth in the Budapest 2018 world championship, in which they won one gold and two bronze medals.
Last year, in the World Cup of Iowa, United States, the Caribbean island finished also in fourth when losing 4-6 in the bronze medal match to Japan.
