HAVANA, Cuba, Feb 25 (acn) The Cuban men's basketball team won their ticket to the FIBA Americup 2021 after achieving three victories in same number of games in the pre-qualifier tournament held until last Sunday, in Belize.
In the last match, Cuba won 123-70 over Antigua with highlight to pivot Javier Justiz, who scored 23 points, with 15 rebounds, four assists and same amount of blocks, according to the official website of the contest.
However, the scoring leader of the game was Cuban forward Lisvan Valdes with 24 units, including 6 three-pointers.
The Cuban side remained undefeated in the tournament as they previously beat 88-74 Bahamas, in their debut, to then defeat 82-80 the host team.
Bahamas got the second berth to the FIBA Americup 2021 when winning 86-72 over Belize yesterday, thus finishing with balance of two wins and one loss, and was followed by the locals (1-2) and Antigua (0-3).
In just over two years, the Americup 2021 will be attended by 16 squads of the continent, including world powers like the United States and Argentina.
Uruguay, Panama, Venezuela, Brazil, Chile, Puerto Rico, Mexico, Canada, the Dominican Republic and the US Virgin Islands have also earned their tickets.
