HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 31 (acn) The Cuban national soccer team will play next February 25 and 27 against Bermuda as part of its preparation for the continuation of the CONCACAF Nations League.
The national commissioner Oliet Rodriguez told JIT sports publication that the matches will take place at Havana´s Pedro Marrero stadium, the first will be official and the second one will be a training game.
Those will be warm-up matches ahead of the decisive game against Haiti, next March 24, in search of qualifying to the League A and the 2019 Gold Cup.
Rodriguez added that Bahamas and Jamaica declined the invitation for other friendly matches, however other options are sought to supply them.
Cuba appears fourth among the six teams with three wins among the 34 contestants.
In those three matches they won 11-0 over Turks and Caicos Islands, 2-0 over Granada and 1-0 over the Dominican Republic, thus remaining undefeated with nine points and with 14 goals for and none against.
The top 6 teams will qualify for League A to join the 6 hexagonal participants: Mexico, United States, Costa Rica, Trinidad and Tobago, Panama and Honduras.
That tournament will begin next September in four groups and its final will take place on March 2020.
The sextet to League A plus four other teams will earn tickets to the, which will take place from June 15 to July 7 in 15 cities of the United States, one in Costa Rica and one in the Caribbean yet to be determined.
The 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup will be attended by 16 teams for the first time in history.
