HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 22 (acn) The Cuban women´s team will make its debut tomorrow against Canada in the 2019 UANA Water Polo Cup, in Sao Paulo, Brazil, qualifying event for the FINA World Championship, which will take place from the next July 12-28, in Gwangju, South Korea.
Cubans, Canadians and Brazilians will fight for the two tickets in a round-robin contest in the first phase, and then the best side will go directly to the final where it will wait for the winner of the semifinal between the two remaining squads.
In 2018, the Caribbean island won the Central American and Caribbean Games of Barranquilla, Colombia, thus qualifying to the 2019 Pan-American Games to be held from July 26 to August 11 in Lima, Peru, competition that will grant tickets to the 2020 Olympics in Tokyo, Japan.
