Two Cuban soccer players sign contracts in Guatemalan League

HAVANA, Cuba, Jan 15 (acn) Cubans Luis Javier Paradela and Yosel Piedra signed contracts to play in the second division of the Guatemalan National Soccer League with the club Universidad de San Carlos, commonly known as USAC.

The authorities of the Central American franchise pondered the quality, age and polyvalency of both players and said those were the main reasons for hiring their services.
Paradella, 21, can play as centre forward or second striker, as winger for both flanks or even as attacking midfielder; while Piedra (24) is a left-back who can also play as centre-back.
Both players are members of the Cuban national side and the agreement states that in case of being called by the national coach, USAC must mandatorily loan them to the Caribbean squad.
The Cuban national team has major commitments this year such as the CONCACAF Nations League, it has to play only one game versus Haiti next March 29; and already qualified to the Gold Cup (June 15 – July 7), so this will be a fruitful agreement for both players who will gain experience in a foreign tournament.
