Cuban Sierra with acceptable performance in Australian raceHAVANA, Cuba, Jan 14 (acn) Cuban cyclist Arlenis Sierra, captain of the Astana Women's Team, finished 24th at the 2019 Santos Women's Tour Down Under, which ended last Sunday in Adelaide, Australia, which was won by the local Amanda Spratt.

In the team event, the Kazakh-Italian squad of Astana ranked eighth, 8:32 minutes behind the leader, Australian franchise Mitchelton-Scott.
Sierra ranked third in the 1st stage and 6th in the fourth one, but the best position of her side in went to Mexican Carolina Rodriguez, a mountain expert who lives her fifth season in the squad and finished 14th in the general individual classification.
The 2019 Santos Women's Tour Down Under was attended by 89 riders and 15 teams: 10 with UCI Women's Team category; 4 of national category and the national squad of New Zealand.
The Astana Women's Team, which owns the highest category of UCI (International Cycling Union by its French acronym), will also participate in the Cadel Evans Great Ocean Road Race next January 26, also in Australia.
In addition to Sierra and Rodriguez, the Astana club, which has 13 riders on its roster this season, will make this raid to Australia with the also Cuban Heidy Pradera, Italian Elena Pirrone, Canadian Marie-Soleil Blais and Mexican Yareli Salazar.
