Four Cuban chess players to participate in Carlos Torre Memorial

HAVANA, Cuba, Dec 10 (acn) Four out of the five members of the Cuban team that attended the last Chess Olympics are among the more than 100 players registered in the Carlos Torre Memorial, to start next Friday in Merida, Mexico.
GMs Yuri Gonzalez, Omar Almeida, Isan Ortiz and Yasser Quesada are among the favorites to win a tournament which first seed is Russian Alexey Dreev, only player with more than 2,600 Elo points.
Ukrainians Andrey Baryshpolets and Pavlo Vorontsov are other universal famous that will attend this 30th edition of the competition.
Lelys Martinez, Carlos Albornoz, Ermes Espinosa, Camilo Gomez and women Lisandra Ordaz, Lisandra Llaudy, Yerisbel Miranda and Oleiny Linares are other Cubans registered in the official site of the tournament, which will be a nine-round Swiss contest, in just five days.
Cuba has been a traditional participant of this championship and some of its stars such as Jesus Nogueiras, Leinier Dominguez, Lazaro Bruzon and Yuniesky Quesada have left their names in the section of champions.
The universal ace Ukrainian Vasily Ivanchuk also won twice this competition, which first winner was the local Roberto Martin del Campo.
