Cuba loses to Honduras in CONCACAF Men´s U20 ChampionshipHAVANA, Cuba, Nov 6 (acn) Cuba lost the crucial match to Honduras in their third game for Group C of the 2018 CONCACAF Men´s U20 Championship, based in Bradenton, Florida, United States.

The Central American squad won 3-1 in a match that saw its decision almost at its end as the Caribbean side took the lead when attacking midfielder Rolando Oviedo scored his third goal of the tournament at the 28th minute, although Honduras replied so soon when Cristian Calix scored the equalizer at 31´.
In the second half, Cubans seemed to be pretty nervous as they were almost forced to win due to Honduras´s better goal difference (GD) and the decision came late in this half when substitutes Carlos Mejia (84´) and Luis Palma (93´) managed to score for the winning side.
In the other matches of this group, Belize defeated 4-2 Saint Maarten and the Dominican Republic beat 3-0 Antigua and Barbuda, according to the official website of the contest.
The Pool is headed by Honduras with three wins, no loss and nine points, followed by Cuba and Antigua with 6 units; Cuba has better GD (+4) than Antigua (+3); Belize (3), the DR (3) and Saint Maarten (0).
The tournament is attended by 34 sides and after an initial phase of six groups, the winners of each pool will advance to the qualifying round, where they will be divided into two three-team groups.
The competition will determine the four CONCACAF representatives at the 2019 FIFA U-20 World Cup in Poland and it will also determine the CONCACAF teams playing at the 2019 Pan American Games men's soccer tournament in Lima.

Cuba´s next rivals will be Antigua and Barbuda, on November 7 th, and Saint Maarten (9th).
The largest Caribbean island is seeking for its second qualification to a FIFA U20 World Cup as they only achieved that goal in the edition of Turkey 2013.
