Two Cubans to fight for bronze medals today in World Wrestling ChampionshipsHAVANA, Cuba, Oct 23 (acn) Two Cuban athletes will try to reach the podium today on the fourth day of the 2018 World Wrestling Championships based in Budapest, Hungary, where the Caribbean nation already won a gold and a bronze medal.

Man Franklin Maren (70 kg) lost in his debut 1-5 to Bahrain´s Adam Batirov, but as the latter will be in the final, he took the Cuban to the repechage.
Once there, Maren first beat 10-0 Moldovan Mihai Sava, to then defeat 12-2 Armenian David Safaryan, 2013 World and European champion, according to the official website of the contest.
Maren´s opponent in the bronze medal bout will be Ukranian Andryi Kviatkovskyi, who lost to Batirov in semifinals.
Meanwhile, Cuban woman Lianna Montero (55), 2017 world junior runner-up, also reached the bronze medal match and will rival American Jacarra Winchester.
Previously, Montero lost 6-16 to Belarus´s Zalina Sidakova, who dragged her to the repechage where she beat 10-0 Vietnamese Kieu Thi Ly and now will clash with Winchester, who lost 1-2 to Sidakova in semifinals.
A third Cuban wrestler, woman Yudari Sanchez (68) also has chances of being in the repechage if American Tamyra Mensah, her victimizer in the round-of-16, defeats French Koumba Larroque in semifinals.
So far, Cuba accumulates in the 2018 World Wrestling Championship a title won by Yowlys Bonne (61) and a bronze medal achieved by Alejandro Valdes (65), both in the men´s freestyle event.
