Two other Cubans to play basketball abroad

HAVANA, Cuba, Oct 3 (acn) Marlon Diaz and Michel Rodriguez joined the list of Cubans hired to play basketball abroad, as part of a process that will contribute to the development of this sport in the country.

Diaz and Rodriguez signed for the U23 team of the Union de Colon Club, from Argentina, and now there are nine Cuban basketball players distributed in several nations, according to JIT sports publication.
Dalia Henry, Cuban national basketball commissioner, said that this project will allow the development of a group of young athletes as they will have the opportunity to technically grow and compete much more at a higher level.
She mentioned that one of the difficulties they have had in these insertions in foreign leagues is that the contracts for women were not been extended.
The list of Cubans currently playing basketball abroad includes Javier Justiz, who plays in the Tecnyconta Zaragoza, in Spain; Karel Guzman, Jasiel Rivero and Yoanki Mencia do it in Argentina; while Joan Luis Haiti, Orestes Torres and Lisvan Valdes play in El Salvador, along with the woman Yamara Amargo.
