HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 29 (acn) Cuban light-welterweight Idalberto Umara defeated Jordanian Osama Samreen and advanced to the finals, to take place tomorrow, of the AIBA Youth Women's & Men's World Championships 2018 staged in Budapest, Hungary.

The Cuban boxer got a 5-0 (30:27, 30:26, 30:27, 30:27 and 30:26) verdict over Samreen in the semifinal, stage which was not favorable for his teammate Christian Pinder , who lost 0-5 (28:29, 28:29, 28:29, 28:29, 27:30) to Russian Ruslan Kolesnikov, according to the official website of the contest.
Umara´s rival in the final will be Russian Ilya Popov, who beat 4-1 in semifinals Ukrainian Maxim Molodan, and who already defeated him once.
«He beat me once as local, but it won´t be the same this time, I´m better prepared now», the Cuban boy told JIT sports publication.
The middleweight Damian Acosta was Cuba´s other representative in the tournament but he lost in his second bout.
This contest will run until August 31st and Cuba could only register those three boxers due to the impossibility of getting visas in Havana to attend the Pan-American tournament held in the United States which awarded tickets to this major event.
Faced with this reality, the only alternative was to wait for the berths assigned by the organizers, who defined the divisions to be covered and only granted three inviting tickets to the Caribbean nation.
