Cuba's U21 Men's Volleyball Team Beats Barbados

HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 28 (ACN) The Cuban's U21 Men's Volleyball Team beat Barbados 3 sets to 0 on Tuesday and continue undefeated in the North, Central American and Caribbean Tournament underway in Havana.

According to the event's website, the Cuban team defeated their counterparts from Barbados 25-13, 25-17 and 25-11 in one hour and 2 minutes of the game, which included great attacks led by Julio Cardenas who finished first with 11 points.

Julio Romero scored 10 points while Aketell Oxley from Barbados led his team with 9 points.

Cuba led in attacks and service while Barbados led in blocks.

In other games, the Dominican Republic in Group A won in three sets, while Canada and the United States defeated Nicaragua and Haiti in three sets respectively in Group B.

The Cuban squad beat Guatemala on Monday 3 sets to 0, Dominican Republic defeated Barbados 3 sets to 0 and Canada overcame Haiti 3 sets to 0 and the US beat Nicaragua 3 sets to 0.

Cuba and the Dominican Republic will face each other on Wednesday and Guatemala against Barbados in Group A and Nicaragua will meet Haiti and Canada vs. the US in Group B.

The teams that finish in first place in each Group will go directly to the semi-finals, second and third places will play in the quarter finals on Thursday and the game for the Medals will be held on Saturday and a position in the World event in 2019.

The favorites is the United States, the defending champions, and Cuba and Canada for the Silver and Bronze.
