HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 27 (acn) Cuba will face Canada tonight in their debut in the 2018 NORCECA U18 Girls´ Youth Continental Championship based in Tegucigalpa, Honduras, from August 27th to September 2nd.
According to the website of the tournament, which grants one ticket to the 2019 World Cup, Cuba will debut today in Group A against Canada, to then face, on Tuesday and Wednesday, Costa Rica and the Dominican Republic, defending champion, respectively.
Group B will feature the matches Nicaragua-United States, current runner-up, and Honduras-Barbados.
The best team of each Poole will advance directly to semifinals this Friday, while those ranking second and third will play the quarterfinals on Thursday.
The all-time medal table of the NORCECA U18 Girls´ Continental Championship is led by USA with seven crowns (1998, 2002, 2004, 2006, 2008, 2010 and 2012), followed by the DR with two (2014 and 2016) and Puerto Rico, who won the scepter in the second edition in 2000.
