HAVANA, Cuba, Aug 23 (acn) Cuba debuted with victory of Christian Pinder (81 kg) in the AIBA Youth Women´s-Men´s World Championships which hosts Budapest, capital of Hungary.
According to the official website of the tournament, Pinder beat 5-0 Azeri Zaur Musaev and tomorrow he will face Puerto Rican Jancarmelo Morales, who was bye in the first round.
Middleweight Edel Acosta will be Cuba´s representative today when facing Spanish Pablo Coy, while on Friday; light-welterweight Idalberto Umara will have as opponent the local Daniel Dayi.
This contest will run until August 31st and Cuba could only register those three boxers due to the impossibility of getting visas in Havana to attend the Pan-American tournament held in the United States which granted tickets to this major event.
Faced with this reality, the only alternative was to wait for the berths assigned by the organizers, who defined the divisions to be covered and only granted three inviting tickets to the Caribbean nation.
