Government of Barbados Recognizes Cuban Sports CooperationHAVANA, Cuba, Aug 7 (ACN) The government of Barbados has recognized the contribution of Cuban sports cooperation in that Caribbean island, according to a report published on Tuesday in Cubaminrex website.

The 16 years of the presence of Cuban sports trainers in athletics, boxing, cycling, hockey, swimming, table tennis and volleyball have been recognized by the Barbadian government with a trophy.

Members of the Cuban sports mission, directives and Barbadian trainers were present during a solemn ceremony held at the National Sports Council in Barbados.

The Executive Director, Jerry Blenman highlighted the excellent results of the cooperation, so much in advising the national federations and clubs in the different modalities as in the work with primary and secondary schools in the country.

While receiving the trophy, the Cuban ambassador Francisco Fernandez thanked the gesture of the government of Barbados, which is an encouragement to the discipline, and dedication of the sports technicians.

Special recognitions went to trainers Felipe Alvarez in boxing; Mihail Santos in cycling; and Julio Madrazo in Volleyball whom concluded their mission.

A substantial increase in the medals obtained by Barbados in different national, regional and international tournaments has been thanks to the sustained work of the Cuban sports collaborators.
