
HAVANA, Cuba, Jul 31 (acn) Cuba earned three gold and one bronze medal today in the men´s canoeing tournament of the 23rd Central American and Caribbean Games, with a stage at Calima Lake in the Colombian city of Cali.
In the K1 1000 meters event, Fidel Vargas won with time of 3: 38.340 minutes, while in the C-1 1000m, the title was achieved by Fernando D. Jorge (3: 53.033), who, along with Serguey Torres (3: 40.451), also ranked first in the C-2 1000m.
The only crown that escaped to the Cubans was in the K-2 1000m event, made up by Vargas and Reinier Torres (3: 24.926), who were surpassed by the pairs from Mexico and Venezuela, in that order.
