Cuban Cyclists Victorious in Cali (+Photos)

CALI, Colombia, Jul 23 (ACN) The Cuban cyclists “devoured” the distance and led in over 10 seconds their Colombian counterparts on Monday in the battle for the Gold medal in the team persecution of the cycling tournament of the Central American and Caribbean Games underway in Colombia.
 
The champion quartet marked 4:32.128 followed by the Colombians with a time of 4:42.444.
 
The Bronze went for the Mexican team who chased the Venezuelans and caught up in the second kilometer, one thousand meters before the finish line, with a time of 2:21.038 for the Mexican squad.
 
The victory of Arlenis Sierra, Marlies Mejias, Yudelmis Dominguez and Maylin Sanchez, has given the Cuban cycling team two Gold and a Bronze.
 
The four Cuban cyclists led the competition as early as the classification trials, winning on Sunday with a time of 4:33.516, followed by Colombia (4:34.772) and Mexico (4:34.890).
 
The record for the Central American and Caribbean Games in team persecution remains at 4:31.235 achieved by Cuba on November 30th , 2014 in Veracruz, Mexico.
