Cuban track and field athletes with great performance in EuropeHAVANA, Cuba, Jul 2 (acn) Cuban athletics shone this weekend at the meetings of Bad Langensalza, in Germany, and La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland, as well as in the IAAF Diamond League, in Paris, France, with a general amount of two gold, one silver and one bronze medal.

In the German competition, Juan Miguel Echevarria won last Saturday the men´s long jump event with 8.68 meters, result that is his lifetime best, and is three centimeters short from the Cuban national record of 8.71, scored by Ivan Pedroso in 1995.
The performance of the Cuban teenager, he´s only 19, has special significance, as he again defeated South African Luvo Manyonga (8.42), 2017 world monarch.
In addition, triple jumper Jordan Diaz also ranked first on Sunday, in Switzerland, with 17.14 meters, performance that ratifies him among the favorites to climb to the top of the podium at the World Junior Championship (U20) in Tampere, Finland, to take place from next July 10 to 15.
Diaz is the current U18 universal champion and on Swiss soil was escorted by Brazilians Daniel Adao (16.54) and Kamal Bento Kuaman (16.50), respectively.
In 2017, he won the U18 World Championships even setting a world record of 17.30 meters.
The silver and bronze medals were reached in the Diamond League in the French capital last Friday by women discus throwers Yaime Perez, with 66.55 meters, and Denia Caballero (63.13), in that order, behind Croatian ace Sandra Perkovic, with record for the competition of 68.60m.
